Group sizes of 4 to 10 people depending on participants' ability and requirements for support.
A variety of media and creative approaches are used depending on the needs and interests of the participants. The approach to sessions may often be a formal approach to art-making, exploring various media and techniques, but there is often a therapeutic aspect to the creative process.
Smaller groups are more suited for individuals with Dementia to ensure individual needs are met within the group activity. These sessions are more person-centred encouraging individuals to maintain their sense of identity within a group setting. Fewer participants allows for closer facilitation and support during the session.
Therapeutic Arts can benefit people despite any impaired cognitive function, loss of speech or other sense impairment as the focus of these art-based sessions is to enliven one's sense of wellbeing through a creative process.
